Read Web Hosting Reviews Prior To Launching Your Site

Nobody ever signed up with a web hosting company because they wanted bad service. If you look at sites that promote hosting services, they all say the same thing – use us, we’re the best! They can’t all be best. Time for a second opinion, especially if you’re shopping for your first web host.

But there’s a problem with simple word of mouth recommendations, too. Some people base their opinion on just one or two experiences. A few have axes to grind, and one or two might just like making noise. Who do you listen to?

Web hosting reviews are a way to make an informed decision. Some would say that these reviews are also just opinions, so they don’t really matter. It’s true that reviews are opinions, but that doesn’t mean they’re useless. The trick is to use them wisely. You need to decide how much weight to give to a reviewer.

The Rave Review never says anything negative. Everything is always the best, totally awesome, incredibly perfect. Problem is, nothing in reality is perfect. If a review sounds too good to be true, it’s probably not from a real user of the service.

The Pan Review never says anything good. Nothing ever works, everyone is a cheat, and customer service is provided by lemmings who only communicate in Morse code. The hallmark of the Pan is lack of detail.

The Sourpuss hates everything. This reviewer may have a valid complaint, but the attitude of the review is so negative it’s hard to tell if the writer is legitimately upset or just plain nuts.

The Real McCoy usually has a mix of good and bad. The writer will mention specific problems or benefits. The review may be negative, but it won’t sound like a rant.

The only way to know if a company does what it claims is to talk to customers. Web hosting reviews let you learn from someone else’s experience – with no risk on your part. Reading reviews tells you how many people are happy with a company. You can find out how good the customer service is, if the servers are reliable, if the tech support guys know their stuff.

When you read web hosting reviews, pay attention to the tone and give each one the weight it deserves. Filter out the garbage and find the real information. It'll make all the difference.
